OSHA has announced its intent to extend the deadline for compliance with its new crane operator certification rules by 3 years to November 2017.

A new final rule, published on May 29, 2013, revises the digger/derrick exclusion contained in the 2010 rule to include all work that is regulated by existing and forthcoming OSHA rules covering the construction of electric power lines and equipment, 29 CFR 1926 Subpart V & 29 CFR 1910.268.

Essentially, workers performing any work with digger/derricks covered by the two mentioned regulations do not have to follow any of the provisions of the CFR 1926 Subpart CC - Cranes and Derricks in Construction
